The clock went "Dong!Dong!" It was three in the afternoon, and Times Square was swarming with people. I, was shopping with my mom. Argh! Suddenly, I glimpsed something out of the corner of my eye. Slowly, my curiosity was taking over me. I had never heard of the idiom "curiosity killed the cat", and was pretty sure that Mom would find me. Great! Bingo! TREASURE! I had found DS cards that only cost $10 each! I was just turning around to get mom to make the deal with but oh no! She disappeared into the crowds!
I desperately tried to replay scenes in my mind, but it was blocked and I couldn't recall anything. The tick tock of the massive clock seemed to glare down wheareas it had been my saviour a few minutes ago. Had it been only a few minutes? It seemed like infinity. The enormous hands of the clock seemed to grab me, and the hub seemed like a gigantic nasty eye glaring at me, trying to manage an evil grin at the same time. Without thinking, I stepped onto the elevator instantly. Only when it was too late did I realize that I had stepped onto a devouring machine. The teeth seemed to grab me and chew me into pieces. When was this going to end? It occurred to me that I was going DOWN. Down into hell. Oh no, when would I see my mother again? It was leading into nowhere. I scanned the crowd for a friendly face. There was nobody. Stony expressions surrounded me. Mortified, I was. I dashed up, barging and snaking through the immense crowd. Finally! I got to where I had started. The clock was counting down. When it gets to zero, something would happen - but what?
"My darling daughter! Where have you been?" a familiar voice rose out of the blues "Mother, mother! I was so terrified!" I leapt into a bear hug and sobbed. I will never tempted by "bait" again!
